Over a year after being ordered to series, animated comedy The Great North has been renewed for a second season by FOX.

“Wendy, Lizzie, Minty, and Loren delivered a show that embodies our animation brand so strongly, they left us no choice but to give this stellar series an early renewal ahead of its midseason debut,” said Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, for FOX Entertainment. “Of course, we’d also like to thank our friends at 20th, who continue to be tremendous partners.”

From Wendy Molyneux & Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin (Bob’s Burgers) and Minty Lewis (Regular Show), The Great North tells the story of the Tobin family, an Alaskan brood headed by rugged single father Beef (Nick Offerman). Among the members of the Tobin family are Judy (Jenny Slate), a young woman with artistic dreams that go beyond her family’s fishing boat; Judy’s older brother Wolf (Will Forte) and his fiance Honeybee (Dulce Sloan); Judy’s middle brother Ham (Paul Rust); and Judy’s wise-beyond-his-years younger brother Moon (Aparna Nancherla).

The series is part of a growing animated slate for FOX as they double down on the medium under Thorn. Not only does the network have its three big animated series in The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy, they renewed 2019-20 freshmen Bless the Harts and Duncanville while ordering Housebroken, about a dog who runs therapy sessions to help neighborhood animals, and an as-yet-untitled series from Dan Harmon (Rick & Morty).
