The Carrie Diaries might be the best show you haven’t checked out yet.

Any series that has that 80’s soundtrack and throwback styles and situations — except perhaps That 80’s Show — is usually a fun watch, and this one has the advantage of some witty writing, a fantastic cast, and some really fun characters. Even better about this show is that regardless of your background — male or female, young or old, gay or straight, parent or child — there is a character you can latch on to and identify with. That can sometimes be rare in TV these days.

A new episode titled “Dangerous Territory” airs tonight (February 11) on The CW, and we were able to screen the episode this past Friday. You want some teases? Here are some teases. And if you haven’t seen what has come before… what are you waiting for? You might be surprised.

(And yes, I do realize that the “teases” will probably mean the most to people who have already seen the show.)

1. Carrie meets a new guy who is very different from Sebastian. George is very tall, very rich, and has a snooty mother that Carrie might have to win over, because as it stands, George’s mother looks down at her as low class. She ends up attending an event hosted by George’s mother and enters a world of situations that she has not yet experienced in her life.

2. Maggie defends what is hers. Maggie (Katie Findlay) is one of the most fun characters of this show, because she’ll fight for whatever she believes in until the bitter end… even if she’s fighting to stay with a boyfriend who she doesn’t seem to realize or acknowledge isn’t into girls. This week, Donna LaDonna, being Donna of course, decides that the gang’s diner hangout is her new place to be as well… and Maggie is having none of it.

3. Mouse seeks sex help from an expert. Mouse (Ellen Wong) wants to do it with Seth again, so of course she goes to the biggest stud in Castlebury for advice… that would be Walt, of course. When she shows off some new moves and talent (under her Mickey Mouse lamp, at that!), some new revelations come to the surface.

4. Carrie takes a driver’s test. And she sucks at parallel parking about as much as I did when I failed my test twice. It didn’t help that cars back in the day were the size of boats.

5. “B!tchy Barbara” is lightening up. And I still think she looks like Molly Ringwald.

And those five things say nothing of what Sebastian and Carrie’s dad are up to! (Separately, not together). Larissa is absent this week but I’ll just assume she is off traveling with a Doctor right now.

All in all, this episode maintains the quality of the series’ first four episodes, and I already can’t wait to see more. Selfishly, I want others to watch to be sure there’s a lot more for me to see in the future. Take a look at some images from the episode and be sure to check out our interview with the show’s Executive Producer Amy B. Harris!
