NBC has confirmed that military drama The Brave has been cancelled after one season.

The news comes as no surprise given the show’s tepid ratings performance and the fact that it didn’t get any type of back order. Unless it has a set episode order from the beginning, whenever a freshman series premieres in the fall and doesn’t get any type of extension, that’s bad news for its renewal prospects.

From Dean Georgaris (The Meg), The Brave followed D.I.A. Deputy Director Patricia Campbell and her team of surveillance operatives, as well as Adam Dalton and his undercover Special Ops squad, as they teamed on missions in some of the most dangerous places in the world.

The series starred Anne Heche (Aftermath), Mike Vogel (Under the Dome), Tate Ellington (Quantico), Demetrius Grosse (13 Hours), and Natacha Karam (Homeland). One of three military dramas to premiere this season, seemingly a response to the election of President Trump and a play for more conservative audiences, it joins Taken in being cancelled by the network today.
