truTV has announced that the eighth season of Impractical Jokers is set to premiere Thursday, March 28th at 10:00, with the series premiere of firehouse comedy Tacoma FD to follow at 10:30.
Ranking as 2018’s #2 original cable comedy in prime for Adults 18-49 and #3 for Adults 18-34 throughout the second half of the year, Impractical Jokers follows friends Sal, Joe, Q, and Murr as they compete to embarrass each other out amongst the general public, with the loser of every episode subject to a punishment chosen by the other three. The series recently wrapped production on its first feature film, which is scheduled for release later this year.
From Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme (Super Troopers 2), Tacoma FD chronicles the goings-on at a firehouse in one of America’s wettest cities. With not much to occupy their time, the crew keeps themselves entertained with creative competitions, friendly first responder rivalries, and bizarre emergency calls.
In addition to Heffernan and Lemme, Tacoma FD stars Hassie Harrison (Southbound), Eugene Cordero (Black Monday), Marcus Henderson (Get Out), and Gabriel Hogan (Heartland). Guest stars include Suzy Nakamura (Dr. Ken) as a no-nonsense city councilwoman; Heather Mazur (Insecure) as the wife of the house’s Chief McConky; and Jimmy Tatro (American Vandal), Maria Russell (Lights Out), and Jamie Kaler (My Boys) as members of the Tacoma Police Department, Tacoma FD’s bitter rivals.
The series joins a scripted lineup for truTV that includes I’m Sorry and At Home with Amy Sedaris.
