Kirsten and Cameron’s relationship is in as dark a place as it’s ever been. Even discounting the fact that Cameron’s (accidental) betrayal torpedoed the beginnings of their romantic connection, also Kirsten’s first big foray into the world of adult relationships, the trust that he destroyed has negatively impacted both their friendship and working relationship. As Kirsten hasn’t had a whole lot of experience dealing with the less desirable emotions, having Cameron, ostensibly her best friend, move the goal posts between her and a reunion with her mother was especially devastating. But the team isn’t going to finish mapping the brain without both of them at least being cordial, so they’re going to have to work things out, no matter what it takes.
On the next episode of Stitchers, Kirsten wakes up to find everyone in the stitch lab missing – except for Cameron, who doesn’t know what’s going on, either. The two are tasked with combing the lab looking for the clues necessary to understand who did this to them, why they were the ones isolated from the rest of the group, and how they could possibly reunite with Linus, Camille, and Maggie. It’s a tricky situation, having to rely on someone you don’t trust to get yourself out of a The Prisoner-esque situation, but the outside force that put them there combined with the solitude of their situation forces Kirsten to really confront her own emotions about her relationship with Cameron. Though this is her first time experiencing significant betrayal with no temporal dysplasia to mask her emotions, she and Cameron have been through a lot together and mean a lot to one another, so Kirsten is going to have to decide whether forgiveness (as she knows it) is a possibility and whether what they have together outweighs the hurt she’s currently feeling.
