After unveiling their plans for Beyond and Shadowhunters at New York Comic-Con today, Freeform wasn’t done with doling out news for its 2018 schedule. This time, it comes in the form of a premiere date for mermaid drama Siren, which will swim to Freeform’s shores on Thursday, March 29th for a two-hour premiere.

It’s unclear why Freeform has abandoned its Monday/Tuesday approach to put dramas (seemingly by themselves) on Thursdays, particularly in the case of something like Siren which will presumably skew heavily female. The problem is that ABC’s TGIT lineup is one of the most female-skewing lineups on television and could smother the shows Freeform puts against it in the womb; granted, ABC is trying to attract an older audience than Freeform, which has been desperately trying to become a millennial brand, but TGIT is so strong at this point that trying something that goes after a remotely similar audience feels self-defeating. Particularly since they don’t seem to be using what lead-ins they have on the avalanche of new shows they’re trying to platform in 2018.
