….okay, so maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration. But there are some exploding stomachs as a master chef – who you can be assured is a kind of Wesen – puts together a dish that will be remembered on tonight’s Grimm.

With tonight’s show, yes, the exploding stomachs is kind of gross, but at the same time, I like it. It kind of reminds me of the sort of thing Doctor Who will do, where window shop dummies could come to life and attack people. Here, something as simple as what someone orders for dinner could have disastrous consequences. It’s a more subtle kind of scary, and it’s rather clever.
I also like that the show is exploring how Nick’s body has changed after the events of the season premiere, and consequences from that season premiere story still factor in that could lead to trouble in the future. It’s an added complication, but it also makes the character stand out a bit more.
If you’re looking for relationships, the one between Monroe and Rosalee is changing, and the Nick/Juliette pairing also seems to be changing now that she knows what is going on. There is also a friendship that is put to the test this week, with some possibly fatal consequences.
Either way, “A Dish Best Served Cold” is a fun episode and if you’re not doing anything else with your Friday night, you should put it on. My only recommendation is that you don’t eat before the show, because your stomach may not agree with it. Oh, and pay close attention – you might find some new development for the Royals within, as well.
We’ll have some more Grimm material up here on the site soon. But for now, enjoy two clips from tonight’s show:
