Epifanio has made it his mission to keep knocking Camila down whenever she tries to build her empire back up. Whether it be the recent assassination of two possible distributors or forming a task force with the Mexican federales, he wants nothing more than to force his wife to give up her business and come home to him, tail firmly between legs. Epifanio once had all the power in his relationship with Camila, so this new arrangement featuring an empowered Camila is uncomfortable for him both personally and professionally; if Camila can become strong enough, she could conceivably bring down his cartel herself and presently, she has all the motivation in the world to do so. But can Epifanio bring her down if she decides to expand her reach outside of Dallas?

On the next episode of Queen of the South, Camila sends Teresa and James to Chicago to build a connection with an elusive dealer she hopes to use as a distributor for their metric ton of product. Even with Epifanio’s $3 million she swindled using Isabella as a pawn taking care of the first payment to El Santo, Camila still needs to find a distributor from which to build her empire. Since she knows that Epifanio’s reach in Sinaloa is vast and that nowhere (and nobody) in Dallas is safe from his influence, going for someone away from her home base could prove to be fruitful. She’s proven time and again to not need much time to get her house in order, so even if Epifanio susses out that she’s using someone outside Dallas, and even if he makes a move to bring down the latest distributor, making the target all the way to Chicago could allow her the opportunity necessary to get stronger. And seeing as how a reeling Camila was about to get one over on Epifanio, and how none of the defeats she’s suffered this season have yet to bring her down, Epifanio knows that letting Camila get back on her feet is the most dangerous thing he could do. But would Epifanio be willing to sign off on an assassination order on his ex-wife if she gets too close to knocking him off his throne?

Queen of the South airs Thursdays at 10:00 on USA.

Will Teresa be able to score a new distributor that Epifanio can’t touch? How will the time away from Dallas treat her relationship with James? Could this be the start of Camila’s ascension back to the top of the cartel world?
