According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sense8‘s Alfonso Herrera has joined the upcoming third season of USA cartel drama Queen of the South. He’ll be recurring as brash mercenary Javier Gallegos, a man working for Teresa who’s willing to kill for the highest bidder.
Season three of Queen of the South takes place in the aftermath of Epifanio’s murder at the hands of Teresa, who finally gets the chance to spread her wings and make a run for the top of the cartel world. This time, Teresa will be operating fully under her terms, but what she doesn’t realize is that things are different when you’re an underling than when you’re the Dona and she’s about to put herself under a lot more danger. But considering everything she learned working under Camila, and how her natural instincts have carried her this far, betting on herself is a risk she’s willing to take not only to survive but to thrive.
In addition to his role on the Netflix drama, Herrera starred for two seasons on The Exorcist and built a Spanish-language television resumee that includes El Dandy, El Diez, and Camaleones.
The third season of Queen of the South is set to premiere Thursday, June 21st at 9:00 on USA.
