USA has released a series of new previews for the upcoming third season of Queen of the South and in them, we see that Teresa and Camila’s relationship has only gotten more complicated.
Season three follows Teresa as she gets her wish – a chance to rise to power within the drug world out from under Camila’s shadow. While she never trusted Camila, Teresa knew that aligning herself with the Dona gave her the protection she needed from Epifanio. In exchange, she would prove to be an asset for Camila as the former Mrs. Vargas attempted to build a life for herself away from her estranged husband, a mutually beneficial relationship that only grew more tenuous as Teresa gained experience.
Once Teresa’s instincts were proven right and Camila outed herself as someone untrustworthy, the two’s inevitable splintering occurred, only things got uglier than expected after a tense airway standoff left Epifanio dead at Teresa’s hands. For as much tension as existed between Epifanio and Camila, there was still a lot of love between them and the two had just reconciled on the strength of Isabella surviving a hostage situation. Not only did Teresa take away Camila’s second chance at a relationship with a man who finally seemed to respect her, she likely cut into the Vargas family bottom line.
Teresa had been aching for the opportunity to spread her wings and now she’s going to get a real taste of what it’s like to be the hunted vs. the hunter.
The third season of Queen of the South is set to premiere Thursday, June 21st at 9:00 on USA.
