In 2021, The CW was developing a new project based on the classic cartoon Powerpuff Girls. Titled simply Powerpuff, the official logline for the show read as such:

The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes, now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?

The project, from writers Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier, had a very all-star cast: Chloe Bennett as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup. Donald Faison was Professor Utonium, Nicholas Podany played Jojo Mandel, and Robyn Lively was Sara Bellum. There was a lot of interest in the project, but The CW passed, the start of the culling of their scripted lineup that permeates to this day. A script leaked online and it was not well received. The network said the project was being redeveloped, but then it never happened.

But…

Four years later, the trailer has leaked! The project is not happening, but it’s an interesting look at a project that never happened. (For our money, the Electra Woman and Dyna Girl WB pilot did this better). Enjoy… or don’t enjoy:
