Blanca has found a renewed sense of purpose acting as the mother of the House of Evangelista. During her time at Abundance, she wasn’t really fulfilled and never got to spread her wings the way she would like, so with the clock ticking after her positive diagnosis, she knew that it was now or never if she wanted to build a legacy. Thus far, she’s given Angel, Lil Papi, Damon, and Ricky the helping hands they’ve needed, with the knowledge she picked up from Elektra and her own dogged determination helping them become a threat at the balls. But as much as Blanca gets out of being a mother and giving her children the positive influence they were otherwise lacking, how will she handle being forced into the role of child once again?
On the next episode of Pose, Blanca learns that her biological mother has passed away, which forces her to return home to face her estranged siblings. She might not have the best memories of her mother from when she first began exploring her gender, but Blanca at least wants to come home and peacefully pay her respects, something that will be difficult considering the contempt her siblings share for her. Be it for the stress the acrimony with their mother caused or their own ignorance/bigotry toward Blanca’s gender identity, the rest of her family isn’t going to be so welcoming to her even if she’s coming home with good intentions. Yet Blanca’s time away from home has given her a strength that can withstand even the most personal of attacks, so even if things go bad at home and old demons get drudged up, she knows she’ll still be standing at the end of the day.
Elsewhere on Pose, willing to accept that this could mean the end of her relationship with Dick, Elektra goes through with her surgery, while Matt gets in the middle of Stan and Patty’s marriage after a blow-up at work.
Pose airs Sundays at 9:00 on FX.
