The CW has given its sixth pilot order of this development season to Glamorous, executive produced by Damon Wayans Jr.
From Jordon Nardino (Desperate Housewives), Glamorous follows a gender non-conforming YouTube vlogger who lands a coveted position at a cosmetics company whose products they panned online.
News of Glamorous being picked up to pilot comes a day after The CW renewed 10 of the 12 series that aired on its fall 2018 schedule. It’s as yet unclear whether the network will add to their pilot total, though the fact that Glamorous is the lone pilot that’s not a spinoff or series adaptation of well-known IP likely points to more orders in the future. Currently the network has Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene; Jane the Virgin spinoff Jane the Novela; a solo series for Batwoman; and new takes on The Lost Boys and Nancy Drew in development.
Should it get ordered to series, Glamorous would further The CW’s recent push into casting and storytelling inclusivity, with the likes of Batwoman, Black Lightning, Jane the Virgin, Charmed, Dynasty, and Legends of Tomorrow, among others, being led by or featuring prominent queer and/or POC characters.
