THURSDAY

8:00 Thursday Night Football

THURSDAY (After Football)

SHILO: 8:00 The Big Bang Theory; 8:30 The Odd Couple; 9:00 Mom; 9:30 The Half of It; 10:00 NCIS: Los Angeles
CRAIG: 8:00 The Big Bang Theory; 8:30 Super Clyde; 9:00 The Odd Couple; 9:30 Mom; 10:00 Limitless

THE ODD COUPLESHILO: The Odd Couple isn’t strong enough to lead off an hour and while I’d understand if CBS tucks it behind Mom and uses the Big Bang lead-in on something new, I figure they’ll want to see whether retention is better in the fall before making any moves. Mom has been doing alright at 9:00 and CBS needs more anchor comedies, so rather than put something unproven in a pivotal hour, I’m guessing that they’ll leave 9:00 alone and focus on launching something new at 9:30. The Half of It, about a man dealing with divorce, sounds like it could be compatible with Mom in terms of darker content and give CBS another creatively strong comedy to work with. With post-football Thursdays to be as chaotic as they were this past season, I wouldn’t want to launch something new, so I figure since Scorpion is leading into a new drama on Mondays in my schedule, NCIS: Los Angeles could take over for Elementary on Thursdays. LA gradually grew into its slot on Mondays and my thinking is that it could give CBS a steady presence that allows them to tinker with other nights/other hours on Thursday. Plus, it should be different enough from what ABC and NBC are doing to where it might have the procedural audience all to itself.

CRAIG: Me, I’m hoping that The Odd Couple could lead off an hour, if it’s got a solid hour before it. Mom might be more serious and could lead into a drama at 10, which in this case, I’m putting Limitless there. I was VERY tempted to re-work Thursdays to give the 9:00 hour back to a drama for Supergirl, but with so many half-hours in play, I couldn’t justify it, ultimately.
