CRAIG: I still will say until I’m blue in the face that it would be wonderful if Young Sheldon was on a different night than The Big Bang Theory. No one cares what I think, though. What I do find generally kind of weird is Me, Myself & I anchoring an hour of still-pretty-new shows. Matt LeBlanc, get ready for an early return for your Man with a Plan show.
9JKL should do all right; I wish the same jokes weren’t repeated a half dozen times in a 5 minute long sizzle reel, though.
SHILO: What a mess. For starters, I don’t understand the one-time Young Sheldon airing followed by the month-long hiatus; I don’t mind either Young Sheldon or 9JKL getting the Monday Big Bang lead-in, but trying to do both feels like it’ll undermine both new shows. The former will have a hiatus way too early in its run, while the latter won’t get the Big Bang season premiere lead-in for its own series premiere. As far as the 9:00 hour, Me, Myself & I feels like it’s being set up for cancellation. Not only does it have to worry about Man with a Plan breathing down its neck, as CBS held the show for midseason despite a 22-episode order (meaning that it’ll have to be on the air by November/December), it has incompatible lead-ins from both Kevin Can Wait (which looked weaker than I thought it would in spring) and fellow new show 9JKL. Being asked to lead an hour can be death for an off-brand CBS comedy (ask The Crazy Ones) and Me‘s unusual concept will make its single cam status stick out that much more, so unless they do a last minute schedule flip with Mom that would surround the show with single cams/the Big Bang halo, Me, Myself & I is in trouble. And that’s all on CBS.
