One of the best original current series on Netflix is their update of 1970’s TV classic One Day at a Time which features the legendary Norman Lear as one of its producers at age 95 (!!) The series follows a Cuban-American family in the modern day and features another legend – Rita Moreno – alongside a talented cast that includes Justina Machado, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, Todd Grinnell, and Stephen Tobolowsky.
Today, Netflix announced that Season Two will be headed our way on January 26, but they also released a treat — a shot-for-shot remake of the original 1970’s opening of the series, with Machado standing in for Bonnie Franklin, Gomez as Mackenzie Phillips, Ruiz channeling his inner Valerie Bertinelli, Grinnell as OG Schneider as played by Pat Harrington Jr., and Rita Moreno paging Mary Louise Wilson. Tobolowsky is dressed as Richard Masur’s character David Kane who left only a few episodes into the original Season 2.
