Things aren’t going so hot for Carly right now. She’s down an acting coach after shutting down Frank’s inappropriate behavior, things with Jethro are as tumultuous and sexually underwhelming as ever, and camming is mostly a means to pay the bills that has moments of liberation sprinkled among the unfulfilling interactions with her clients. With no roommate after Amber left for Utah, Carly is in a precarious financial, emotional, and professional place that requires a lot of thought, planning, and soul searching. And what better place to soul search than Palm Springs?
On the next episode of Now Apocalypse, Ford invites Severine, Uly, and Carly to Thor’s lavish Palm Springs party. For her part, Carly finds a nice distraction from her real life problems in the form of Leif, an artist who approaches her at the pool while she’s with Uly. The connection that she felt with this drive-by seduction, as well as a later conversation with Sev, pings something in her brain that makes her wonder about her relationship with Jethro. The two don’t have any sexual chemistry; she’s often embarrassed by his antics; and they fight when they’re in the same room, when they talk on the phone, and when they’re texting. There’s a level of fondness there, but with not enough trust between them for her to be honest about camming, just how attached are they, really?
Elsewhere on Now Apocalypse, Uly’s recent interest in online conspiracy theories gets tested after encountering Mitchell Kent at a book signing, while Ford’s discontent at not feeling important in his own relationship causes distance between him and Severine.
