When Xavier learned that Tyra DeNeil Fields had invalidated the math used in his asteroid theory, he felt a certain amount of relief. He might have been disappointed to know that he spent so much time on something that ended up being incorrect, but he could live the rest of his life, which would last much longer than a few months, with Evie and use the lessons they learned throughout this ordeal going forward. The world doesn’t have to end for you to be more present and open to new things; not having the threat of an asteroid doesn’t mean that life has to become mundane and unfulfilling. But just as Xavier is getting used to this next phase of his life, and the future that he and Evie could have, he receives word that his theory was indeed correct.
On the season finale of No Tomorrow, Xavier grapples with the weight of his theory being validated, as he not only has to talk to Tyra DeNeil Fields, the person responsible for his theory from spreading and becoming public knowledge, he’s not near Evie at the time he needs her the most. Luckily, Tyra already knows that there is a way to avoid the asteroid altogether, that the world can still be saved and doesn’t have to be led to slaughter, and that Xavier is the man to keep everyone safe. With the fate of the world in his hands, it’s understandable that Xavier would reach out to Evie, as she’s the person he’d most want to spend his remaining days on Earth with, but after crossing off one more item on the Apocalyst together, the two are going to have to stay separated while he focuses on preventing an extinction level event. Xavier can’t have any distractions during the most important days in the history of the planet and though Evie might want to be there for moral support, she’s better off giving him one last good memory for motivation in his quest to save the world.
Elsewhere on No Tomorrow, the Tacoma Cybermart branch struggles dealing with Deirdre’s new rules, while Timothy distracts himself from what he knows by leaving the city and going on a trip with Talia.
The season finale of No Tomorrow airs Tuesday at 9:00 on The CW.
Will Xavier be able to save the world? How long will it be before Evie finds out about his research? Why do you think Tyra DeNeil Fields wants to keep Xavier’s theory from becoming public?
