Though they’ve only been in one another’s lives for a short time, Xavier and Evie have been through a lot together. He’s gotten her to break out of her shell and be comfortable with the unexpected; she’s gotten him to open up more emotionally and not be afraid to confront the more difficult things in life. With their connection already intensified by the weight of an asteroid plummeting toward Earth, there are a lot of feelings between the two that could be intimidating, even with both Xavier and Evie making a commitment to not be afraid anymore.

On tonight’s episode of No Tomorrow, Xavier and Evie have reached the point in their relationship where, all things considered, saying “I love you” makes sense. However, neither seems properly equipped to deal with the emotion that comes with saying the L-word, as he almost goes out of his way to say he loves everything/everyone else but her and she can’t seem to find a way to make him truly hear what she has to say. In a way, it’s understandable that Xavier might be reticent about saying those three little words to Evie; even with how much he feels for her and how much she’s helped him begin working through his issues, attaching the L-word to someone, even if that’s a proper label for your feelings, means that you’re emotionally invested and that, should something go wrong, you’re setting yourself up for heartbreak. Xavier has made clear that he wants to spend his remaining time on Earth free from the burdens of modern society, which could be extended to the implications behind the L-word, but if he wants to make the most of what time he has left, he needs to be able to name (and own) his feelings, even if he’s scared of losing Evie.

Elsewhere on No Tomorrow, Hank and Deirdre struggle to keep their relationship a secret, while Evie’s attempt at impressing the Cybermart CEO don’t quite go as she planned.

No Tomorrow airs tonight at 9:00 on The CW.

Why do you think Xavier has difficulties saying the L-word to Evie? How long will it be before all of Cybermart knows about Hank and Deirdre? Could Evie’s dealing with the CEO influence how she handles the latest stumbling block with Xavier?
