NBC has renewed their Night Court revival for a third season. According to Deadline, Night Court Season 3 will comprise of 18 episodes — longer than what we’ve gotten so far, but still below what is often expected for series prior to recent industry contraction.
The updated Night Court focuses on Judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch), daughter of the late Harry Stone who presided over the nocturnal judgement room in the original series. Some familiar faces from the original how have appeared on the new, including Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) who is a series regular and now serving as a public defender, the yokel Wheelers (Brent Spiner and Annie O’Donnell), and fan favorite Roz (Marsha Warfield), who got married in the Season 2 finale. Sadly, much of the original show’s cast has passed away… but hey, Ellen Foley is still alive, so maybe we’ll see her someday?
The Season 2 finale had some revelations which should be fun to see playing out in Season 3. Night Court stars Rauch and Larroquette with Lacretta (Gurgs), India de Beaufort (Olivia Moore), and Nyambi Nyambi (Wyatt).
