NBC medical drama New Amsterdam becomes the first new broadcast show of the fall to receive a back order, as the series has been granted a full 22-episode first season.

New Amsterdam is one of five medical dramas currently airing on broadcast, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Doctor, Chicago Med, and The Resident, with the last also receiving a back order today. It’s one of two successful launches NBC had this fall, with highly rated sci-fi drama Manifest still awaiting word on its own back order. Though some type of extension for Manifest will happen, the question is what length of extension NBC and show producers can agree upon.
New Amsterdam airs Tuesdays at 10:00 on NBC.
