HBO has set a Friday, June 14th premiere date for primarily Spanish-language comedy Los Espookys. The series will air at 11:00 following Real Time with Bill Maher.
From Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Ana Fabrega (At Home with Amy Sedaris), and Julio Torres (Saturday Night Live), the series takes place in Mexico City and follows a group of friends as they turn their love of horror into a business.
Set to star are Bernardo Velasco (Belaventura) as acting coach and casting director Renaldo, the noble leader of Los Espookys who’s obsessed with gore and always out of cell phone minutes; Cassandra Ciangherotti (Las horas contigo) as dental assistant Ursula, who provides teeth for the group’s monsters; Fabrega as Tati, Ursula’s sister who constantly juggles odd jobs; Torres as Renaldo’s best friend Andres, the heir to a chocolate empire; and Armisen as valet driver Tico, Renaldo’s uncle.
Los Espookys joins a scripted comedy slate for HBO that includes Divorce, Ballers, Insecure, High Maintenance, Barry, and Silicon Valley. It’s one of several comedies set to premiere later this year on the premium cable network, a list that includes The Righteous Gemstones, A Black Lady Sketch Show, and Mrs. Fletcher.

This is the wrong Bernardo Velasco. If you need a current work he was in to use, might I suggest Museo? Thanks!
