FX has released the first trailer for upcoming Marvel drama Legion and in it, we see that perceived madness can sometimes be a cover up for something else entirely.
Developed for television by Noah Hawley (Fargo), Legion tells the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens), a man diagnosed as a schizophrenic who has spent much of his life in and out of psychiatric hospitals. However, this distrust of reality that has dominated his life gets challenged when he has an encounter with a fellow patient and gets confronted with the possibility that the visions he has might be real.
In addition to Stevens, Legion stars Rachel Keller (Hollidaysburg) as street smart Syd; Jean Smart (Designing Women) as demanding therapist Melanie; Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) as eternal optimist Lenny; and Katie Aselton (The League) as Amy, David’s practical older sister. The series joins a healthy fleet of Marvel projects on television and streaming platforms, as Netflix is home to the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, while ABC is responsible for Agents of SHIELD and Freeform will premiere Cloak & Dagger sometime next year.
One of two dramas FX has already ordered for 2017, the other being Ryan Murphy anthology Feud, Legion is set to premiere in early 2017. A more concrete air date should be announced in the coming months.
Will you be watching Legion? Do you think the television adaptation will do justice to the comics? Where would you like to see the show go during the first season?
