Nikita returns for the last five episodes of the season starting tonight at 8PM (ET) on The CW. Creatively, the show has really fallen into a good groove… sadly, the ratings aren’t there so hopefully people will catch these last Season 2 episodes so we can get a Nikita Season 3.

I’ve been able to see the episode early and figured it would be fun to tease five elements of the episode, so we an see if it’s something you’d enjoy tuning in to.

1. An explosive situation affects everybody. Something really, really bad happens that’s going to affect every character in the Nikita cast. Frequent viewers to Nikita know the show isn’t afraid of pulling game changers… and here, we have another one.

2. Nikita and Michael have different ways of talking about their problems. It’s interesting to note the differences between how Nikita and Michael talk about their situations and their frustrations. Nikita does her talking on the beach with Alex. Michael does his talking with Birkhoff while sparring. Maybe it’s more of a sign of the kind of people they are, or the kind of people they want to present themselves as, but it’s an interesting balance.

3. There are flashbacks. The highlight for me here was seeing a flashback to Nikita’s time working at Division under Percy. We learn a bit more of her backstory here, and… well, I’m not spoiling it, but it’s eye-opening. It also brings out some really good acting and dialogue between Maggie Q and Xander Berkeley.

4. “Nikita is tortured and captured.” That was in the official episode description for the episode, and, beyond the slightly over the top villain in Nicholas Brant, that might be the part of the episode that made me the most uncomfortable. But then again, who wants to see bad things happen to people or fictional characters that they like? At least no one was pulling teeth Alias-style but it still didn’t go over too well for me, even though the end result was rewarding.

5. Stuff hits the fan. Things are said and brought out into the open. Again, watch it to see what I’m talking about.

“Wrath” seems like a good prelude to the last arc of the season. Characters are moved into different positions in what will ultimately be the season’s endgame. Even if I was a little uncomfortable with the torture stuff, the episode had me wanting to see what happens next. Nikita’s a good show – especially with the characters working together – and I hope the show lasts a lot longer.

And one other thing: Props go out to the people who truly make parts of Nikita look like they really are shot in foreign places. The opening shots of “Wrath,” especially, are amazing. The Nikita team definitely deserves some credit for some really great work.
