Deadline is reporting that Emmy nominee Marcia Cross (Desperate Housewives) has joined The CW’s Jane the Virgin spinoff Jane the Novela, which has been ordered to pilot. She’ll be playing the manipulative and glamorous Renata, who prioritizes her son’s legacy over his happiness.
In addition to her role on the ABC dramedy, Cross’s television credits include Quantico, Youth & Consequences, and Everwood.
Jane the Novela is part of a pilot slate for The CW that includes Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene; DC-verse spinoff Batwoman; new takes on Nancy Drew and The Lost Boys; and Glamorous, about a YouTube vlogger who gets a job at a cosmetics company.
