Last week before the Teen Wolf panel at Comic-Con, KSiteTV and other media outlets caught up with the actors to talk about the show as part of an interview roundtable.
A few days ago, we posted what Tyler Hoechlin, Colton Haynes, and Holland Roden had to say. Now it’s time to hear from Tyler Posey (Scott), Dylan O’Brien (Stiles), and Crystal Reed (Allison)!
Don’t forget a new episode airs tonight at 10PM on MTV. Come talk about Teen Wolf on our forum!
Questions are posted in bold, answers are not. Please don’t reproduce this onto other sites; instead, just place a link to KSiteTV! Thanks!
Can you talk about the reaction the show has gotten, and Stiles in particular?
DYLAN O’BRIEN: I can’t even believe it. I mean, it’s super crazy. I’m just a regular guy who doesn’t really see himself as a superstar, so it’s just kind of nuts that people are treating me that way.
CRYSTAL REED: That’s probably why people react like that. It’s a great quality.
DYLAN: It’s nuts. It’s much appreciated, but it makes me sweat.
Is there going to be more conflict between Stiles and Scott in the future?
DYLAN: I think that that’ll get toyed with more next season, because we did have that one episode where we were kind of on the rocks. It’s the first time you actually really see Stiles get pissed at Scott.
TYLER: I don’t think we’re going to have a falling out. Stiles hated me for a little bit in Episode – four, is it? Five? Six? Five and six. And eight.
DYLAN: Five. Oh yeah. We’ve seen Stiles kind of get pissed at Scott a couple times now, but I think that in 8, the reason in 8, it was a pretty legitimate reason. He totally made out with his girl. But then again, it’s the full moon…
TYLER: …and it’s not your girl.
DYLAN: …And it’s not my girl. Exactly. It’s the chick who I really can’t get. At all. So I don’t know. I think that if Stiles is still looking out for his buddy after that, we’re not going to see any kind of falling out.
TYLER: I hope not. We have too good a relationship on that show.
DYLAN: I wouldn’t even be helping him out at all. I’d be running for my life, right, if I didn’t actually love him like I love him.
When do you start filming Season Two?
TYLER: When? October or November. We started filming in October last time, and we want to give Jeff [Davis], the dude, the creator, some time to create the show.
Will you try to pitch any story ideas?
TYLER: Yeah, definitely. But he’s better at coming up with stuff than I am. My ideas are useless.
You’re doing some webisodes with your dad. Can you talk about what it’s like to work with your dad?
TYLER: My dad was the first person I ever worked with. My dad had a one-man play that he performed in front of a bunch of people when I was like five years old. Even younger. But when I was five years old, I was old enough to play a role in the play, and I would come on stage with him, and that was the first thing I had ever done. And then I got a TV show that my dad was very good friends with the creators of. We wrote some episodes and acted in them also, and then my dad wrote a movie that he and I were both in, so we’ve worked together a lot, and it’s one of the coolest things, because my dad’s one of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met. I look up to him, and having him on set, every time he’s on set, I learn something new. And he’s such a bad-ass dude, and I’m so happy that he’s my dad. I love working with my dad. I love the webisodes with my dad, and that he’s a character on Teen Wolf so he can come back next season hopefully.
Fans seem to expect a lot from the werewolf genre. Does that make the show challenging?
CRYSTAL: I don’t think about it, at all, really. I think I just trust the writing. I’ve never really had any doubt in Jeff’s abilities. Even from the pilot. At first, I will admit, I saw it and I was like “Teen Wolf? MTV?” Two things that I was a little skeptical about, but then I read it and was completely blown away. So I don’t ever really think about what other people expect. I just try to do my best, and that’s all I can do.
Why is Stiles so concerned over what Danny thinks of him? It seems to be a recurring thing.
DYLAN: It is recurring, and it’s actually stirred some fan inquiry. “Is Stiles gay?” Which I think is so funny, because I didn’t even think of that. I was like “Oh.” I think that people were actually thinking I was hitting on Danny, or something. I don’t know why Stiles is so interested — I think Stiles just can be a little sensitive sometimes, and I think that he doesn’t like that Danny acts like that to him. He is just like “Well, come on, Danny.” And then, to top it off, he wants him to think he’s attractive.
TYLER: Stiles wants to be attractive to everybody.
DYLAN: Yeah! [laughs]
What are you doing in your summer downtime?
TYLER: I’ve already taken all the downtime I need. I’ve got three movies that I’m going to be working on. One, I just started before we came here. I’m going to finish it when we go back. It’s a very small, not so much a small role, just a small schedule, and then I start another one which is being referred to as a Mexican Clerks. It’s called Taco Shop, and I’m really excited to do that. And there’s another one called U.F.O. that I’m going to be working on. And the one that I already started working on is called White Frog. I’ve also been playing a lot in my band, Lost in Kostko. We’re all doing stuff.
CRYSTAL: I feel like my summer has gone by so fast. I feel like I have missed so much of it. We’re doing a press tour in Latin America, and I just feel like it’s been so busy. I’m filming a movie called Jewtopia, which I’m really excited about. It was a play – I don’t know if you guys are familiar with it, but it’s super, super funny, and I play this “princess” Jewish girl who is really bratty, which I love. It’s completely outside of my character, so that’s very fun. But I want to get home and visit my family soon, because I don’t have any time and I miss them.
DYLAN: I did a movie a couple months ago, a romantic comedy with Jon Kasdan and Brittany Robertson. It’s called The First Time. I haven’t done anything since. I’ve just been auditioning and getting back into that, and trying to get more work between projects. I get a project for one week, and then after that I’m bored again. I’d rather just dive back into something before we go back to film.
