The latest pilot update from Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva is listing the Tom Welling-produced Hellcats as a “frontrunner” for a spot on The CW’s Fall schedule with Betwixt (aka Changelings) and HMS still “in contention.”

Nikita, although not formally announced, is a “go.”

Other CW projects, including The Wyoming Project from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Nomads, are not mentioned.

  1. I’m FAR, FAR more sold on the male cast of Changelings than I am about the entire cast/premise of Hellcats. Just not sold on the cheerleading thing as something that will appeal to the masses. CW had better at least “consider” that Hellcats could wind up as the next The Beautiful Life. In other words, don’t put all your eggs in this one basket. Have other series replacements in production, as well. This network, in particular, can never have enough quality back-up shows ready to go…and I’m not referring to High Society!

And I sure hope CW is giving the Wyoming pilot a long look. Something “different” is needed on the network, and the time may be right for a western-themed soap.

  2. Honestly I am dreading Betwixt. Why? I just finished reading the book and it was awesome. I am hoping that the TV-series doesn’t ruin it!

But why Hellcats? The idea it’s self sounds so stupid! I just hope that the CW reconsiders ether Nomads and Wyoming Project!

  3. I am not big on Cheerleading but I will give it a look and watch the pilot just because Tom Welling is one of the producers.
