USA has announced that psychological thriller Falling Water has been renewed for a second season, which should go into production later this year.

Falling Water turns the traditional dramatic thriller on its head by tapping into the power of something we all have access to: dreams,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “We look forward to continuing this bold, completely unique story.”

From the late Henry Brommel (Homeland), with the first season having been ran by Blake Masters (Brotherhood), Falling Water follows three seemingly unconnected people who are drawn together by their ability to manipulate their dreams. What each soon discovers, though, is that with this power comes a danger that threatens not only them individually, but the world as a whole.

With the recent cancellation of Eyewitness, Falling Water is now the lowest rated USA drama, drawing a little over 450,000 total viewers and a 0.14 demo in Live + Same Day ratings. However, the series had solid DVR bumps and had its SVOD rights picked up by Amazon, which helped offset its lower live numbers. Not only will having an exclusivity deal with Amazon help goose viewership, at least theoretically, given how Falling Water is streaming friendly in structure, it brings in additional money for the network, as the show is owned by NBC Universal.

Starring David Ajala (The Dark Knight), Lizzie Brochere (American Horror Story), and Will Yun Lee (The Wolverine), Falling Water joins a USA drama slate that includes Queen of the South, Suits, Colony, and upcoming The Sinner.
