Deadline is reporting that Hit the Floor alum Robert Christopher Riley has joined the cast of The CW’s soapy pilot Dynasty. He’ll be playing Culhane, the chauffeur of the affluent Carrington family.
Executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl), Dynasty is a reboot of the seminal 1980s primetime soap that followed the vicious rivalry between the Carringtons and Colbys. The series will focus on the principal rivalry between Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies) and Cristal (Nathalie Kelley), a much younger woman who gets involved with Fallon’s father Blake while working for him.
In addition to his role on the VH1 basketball soap, Riley has appeared on the likes of Underground, Elementary, and For Better or Worse.
Dynasty is one of six CW pilots currently in contention for 2017-18, joining military drama Valor, cancer dramedy Life Sentence, beauty pageant drama Insatiable, fantasy-themed Searchers, and DC-verse entrant Black Lightning. Casting for every project should continue over the next few weeks, while decisions on which pilots will be picked up to series will be made in early May.
In addition to the pilots fighting for schedule space, The CW has a handful of current dramas still in the running for next season. Included in the hunt for 2017-18 are No Tomorrow, Frequency, Riverdale, The 100, The Originals, and iZombie.
