After solving the Cardenas case and figuring out the identity of The Boy, Dirk thought that he, Todd, and the Rowdy 3 would simply take the pool to Blackwing, find Mona, have her lead them to The Boy, and arouse the creator of Wendimoor from his decades-long coma. It would be an easy-peasy, decidedly simple conclusion to a case that challenged Dirk’s love of being a holistic detective, but what he didn’t realize was that there’s still a whole fleet of players who want to keep him from fulfilling the prophecy and that this time, he was going to have to be brave and complete the case on his own.
On the season finale of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Dirk arrives in Blackwing after taking the pool in Wendimoor. He knows that Todd, Amanda, and the Rowdy 3 are all doing what they have to in order to give him the time he needs to find The Boy, so to keep everyone safe, he has to make this a quick trip. But Dirk doesn’t know that the Kellum Knights have already invaded Blackwing and that under Suzie’s orders, they’re to dispose of him once and for all. While Dirk might be someone who’s able to see how the universe is connected and suss out the type of patterns and “coincidences” that other people might not be aware of, he’s not exactly known to be a fighter or someone skilled in physical combat. Without a group like the Rowdy 3 to keep the Knights at bay, Dirk will have to be especially creative in how he evades them and efficient in how he locates both Mona and The Boy.
Elsewhere on Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Todd and Amanda attempt to hold Suzie off long enough for Dirk to complete his mission, while Farah, Tina, and Hobbs regroup after their encounter with The Mage.
