Viacom streamer BET Plus has acquired six-episode Canadian procedural Diggstown, it was announced Thursday. The series is available to stream beginning today.
From Floyd Kane (Across the Line), Diggstown follows accomplished corporate lawyer Marcie Diggs (Vinessa Antoine), whose priorities shift following the suicide of her beloved aunt. The series chronicles Marcie working in a legal aid office in Nova Scotia and rubbing elbows with a team working directly in the community to find justice for their diverse clientele.
In addition to Antoine, the series stars Natasha Henstridge (Species), C. David Johnson (Street Legal), Stacey Farber (Grace and Frankie), Brandon Oakes (Arctic Air), Shailene Garnett (Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments), Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp), and Dwain Murphy (Titans).
Diggstown is part of a scripted slate for BET Plus that includes a series adaptation of First Wives Club; Will Packer comedy Bigger; and Tyler Perry sex cult drama Ruthless. The streamer also had Tyler Perry male friendship comedy Bruh and Carl Weber crime drama The Family Business on tap. A decision on whether Paula Patton legal thriller Sacrifice, a two-hour movie that doubled as a backdoor pilot, will turn into a series has yet to be announced.
