The second week of KSiteTV’s This Week in TV Development roundup come as the broadcast networks are making their last buys of the season. There’ll still be new scripted trickling in between now and the end of the year, and there’s always a chance of a super late straight-to-series order, but there won’t be as much as there’s been for the past couple of months as development finishes taking shape. Once we hit the end of this year and early next, we’ll start whittling down the intimidatingly long list of scripts to what will eventually be made into pilots, which is where the fun of development season really begins.

But for now, check out this latest batch of script, put pilot, and pilot production commitments, including an NBC adaptation of surfer movie Blue Crush, an ABC comedy featuring Kristin Chenoweth as a fairy godmother, and a FOX soap that acts like Romeo & Juliet in the world of auto racing. Additionally, here’s an article about The CW’s upcoming reboot of Roswell, which joins planned spinoffs of The Originals, Supernatural, and Riverdale, as well as reboots of Charmed and The Lost Boys, in development.

    ABC

Heartland – A family drama about a couple who adopt a new baby and the baby’s teenage birth mother.

Acquired – A drama about an angry widower who gets into a freak accident, finds himself with a genius-level intellect, and begins working with San Francisco detectives to solve perplexing murders.

New World – A drama about two brothers who try to reconnect after losing their father, only to get into a boat crash on vacation and find themselves on a deserted island.

Black Widow – A soapy thriller about three women who form an unlikely bond when a boating accident kills their significant others.

Untitled Seth Rogen Project – A family comedy about a liberal who moves back to his conservative home town to be with his one true love.

The Real Fairy Godmother – A comedy about a “real housewife” who learns she’s descended from a line of Fairy Godmothers and decides to fulfill her destiny by helping people with her powers.

The Mighty Quinn – A comedy about a 39-year-old woman who decides to take a year-long sabbatical from dating after getting dumped on Christmas.

Lost in Queens – A family comedy about a Marine who, after his wife leaves him, returns to civilian life to raise his two daughters.

Ex-Stepmom – A comedy about a broke post grad who comes to realize that the one person in her life she can depend on is her ex-stepmom.

Untitled Supernatural Comedy – A comedy about a woman who discovers something extraordinary about herself after she reaches her lowest point.

Big Law – A legal drama about a large law firm in Los Angeles.

Eight Hundred Grapes – A soap about a 30-year-old who learns an explosive secret about her fiancee and returns home to find that her family has been keeping secrets, too.

Untitled Bobby Bowman Project – A comedy about a child growing up with a father with mental illness.

    CBS

Recall – A sci-fi crime drama about the NSA possessing a machine that allows the user direct access to the memories of witnesses, victims, and suspects.

UNSUB – A drama about a female detective chasing the same killer that evaded her father.

Unthinkable – A drama about a futurist recruited by the FBI to spot threats to its agents.

Rosarito Beach – A legal drama about a disgraced female attorney who works with an ambitious Latino attorney on cases that straddle the US/Mexico border.

    FOX

Untitled Hawaii Project – A soap centered on a couple who moves their family to Hawaii, which ends up threatening the security and stability of their relationship.

Bastards – A family comedy about a game show host who dies and leaves his mansion to his three children – none of whom knew about the other.

Victory Lane – A soap centered in the auto racing world that follows two drivers from rival families who fall in love.

The Long Walk – A drama about a retired bomb tech who returns to the team he left behind in order to confront his past demons.

    NBC

Cipher – A spy drama that revolves around a secret intelligence agency called Red Division that enlists the help of a dysfunctional ex-con to stop an imminent global threat.

Blue Crush – A drama about a surfer who works to revive her career and raise the morale in a community under siege from commercialism.

Like Family – A comedy about two twentysomethings who met as foster children trying to figure out what they want from life.
