The second week of KSiteTV’s This Week in TV Development roundup come as the broadcast networks are making their last buys of the season. There’ll still be new scripted trickling in between now and the end of the year, and there’s always a chance of a super late straight-to-series order, but there won’t be as much as there’s been for the past couple of months as development finishes taking shape. Once we hit the end of this year and early next, we’ll start whittling down the intimidatingly long list of scripts to what will eventually be made into pilots, which is where the fun of development season really begins.
But for now, check out this latest batch of script, put pilot, and pilot production commitments, including an NBC adaptation of surfer movie Blue Crush, an ABC comedy featuring Kristin Chenoweth as a fairy godmother, and a FOX soap that acts like Romeo & Juliet in the world of auto racing. Additionally, here’s an article about The CW’s upcoming reboot of Roswell, which joins planned spinoffs of The Originals, Supernatural, and Riverdale, as well as reboots of Charmed and The Lost Boys, in development.
