Comedy Central has announced that puppet show Crank Yankers has been revived with a 20-episode order.
“Crank Yankers has always been my favorite show to make. Nothing is more fun or makes me laugh harder than a great crank call and I am thrilled that Comedy Central asked us to do it again,” said series co-creator Jimmy Kimmel. “At this time, I would like to ask all Americans to disable their caller ID. Thank you.”
Created by Kimmel, Adam Carolla, and Daniel Kellison (The Man Show), Crank Yankers featured real crank calls from its (mostly) comedian guest stars that are given visual support by puppets. The series ran from 2002-2007, amassing nearly 100 episodes and a cult audience.
The new version of Crank Yankers will feature pranking on cell phones, social media, and e-sport platforms, among other places. While guest stars have yet to be revealed, the first iteration of the show featured the likes of Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes, Tracy Morgan, Bob Odenkirk, Kevin Nealon, Drew Carey, and Fred Armisen.
Crank Yankers joins a scripted slate for Comedy Central that includes newly renewed The Other Two, South Park, Corporate, and Drunk History.
