Counterpart creator Justin Marks revealed on his Twitter that the Starz espionage thriller won’t be returning for a third season, though series studio MRC is said to be shopping it around to other outlets.

Though it had a cult audience and its share of supporters in the TV critic community, the news comes as no surprise given the show’s weak ratings and lack of major buzz. The series was also up against it due to Lionsgate purchasing Starz and subsequently wanting to put more of its own series on the airwaves.
