I’m a recent convert to Chuck, at first tuning in partly because the folks on the Chuck sub-forum at KryptonSite seem to like it and secondly because I knew Kristin Kreuk would be showing up in Season 3. I found myself really liking it, although unfortunately for me, I kind of fell off the wagon.
Fortunately, last week, Warner Home Video released the third season of Chuck on DVD… and now I can catch up on everything I might have missed. There are 19 episodes on this set as well as a host of extras.
For me, a highlight was, again, seeing Kristin Kreuk again. Although she starts off spouting about “secrets and lies” like Lana did, it was a real treat to see Kristin in an adult role that was so different from Lana Lang of Smallville. It also shows off her comedic timing – it is too bad her sitcom Hitched with Josh Schwartz didn’t work out. (Kristin was replaced, but ultimately the series didn’t happen anyway)
Superman fans will be happy to see former Man of Steel Brandon Routh in a guest role as “Shaw,” and other big-name guest stars in Season 3 include Scott Bakula, Christopher Lloyd, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and more.
Extras include “declassified” (read: deleted) scenes, a “Jeffster Revolution” mockumentary, a gag reel, and “Chuck-Fu… and Dim Sum,” a guide to becoming a spy guy.
If you haven’t seen the show before, and are looking for something fun, this is definitely one to check out. You can even order a copy from Amazon.com and support this site! Chuck Season 3 is also now available in the Blu-ray format.
