Confirming a rumor from last night, Kristin Kreuk has been cast along with Jack Carpenter in Chuck creator Josh Schwartz’s new sitcom Hitched.

Kristin will be playing one half of a newly-married couple, with Eugene Levy as the wacky dad. If picked up, the show will be airing on CBS.

This was confirmed today by several sources, including EW‘s Michael Ausiello and the Hollywood Reporter.

  1. NoMoEmoSuperman on

kk a star of a show?! dang! hasn’t even aired yet and it’s already jumped the shark. i thought lana was annoying on smallville bc of the writing. after watching kk on chuck, i realized it also had to do with kk herself. she is a beautiful young woman but ANNOYING.

  2. suck it haters!!!! on

^^^ sorry NoMoEmoSuperman, but without KK smallville wouldn’t still be on the air. KK-centric episodes have always received high ratings over the years. and it’s funny, how you’re the only one with that opinion about KK on chuck. most people who hated lana love KK on chuck. your opinion doesn’t matter, it’s josh schartz’s opinion that matters and he has obviously realized KK’s amazing presence on screen. KK will always be the STAR of whatever she does. hell, her presence on chuck sent chuck and sarah fans in a tailspin of fear and worry. no matter what, KK will always be a threat to whatever love interest her character has that is somewhat involved with another female character (eg. clois/chlark/charah), she is THAT GOOD!!!

  3. While I don’t agree with NoMoEmo’s comments about KK, please move on from calling other fans “haters.” The same rules as the KryptonSite Forums apply here.

Personally, I thought Kristin has been fantastic on Chuck. It’s great to see her in a new and adult role and I’ve always thought Kristin had an untapped talent for comedy, so I think she’ll be really good in this sitcom. Having met her – she’s a sweet, fun, and quirky person and that will hopefully translate to whatever she does in her new show.

  4. SAAAAAWWWWEEEEEEET!!!

And with Eugene Levy in it.. you know its gonna be funny. =P
More comedy for KK. This is awesome! =D
    I really hope it’s given a chance.

  5. With the cast, and considering the producer is a “name,” I’m pretty sure it’ll land on the CBS schedule. If it’s on Monday nights it could REALLY thrive. (Though for Schwartz’s sake I hope it’s not on up against Chuck!)

  6. Lyla Lerrol on

I always knew Kristin Kreuk is destined for stardom!
I love her, some people find Lana annoying, but, whether you like it or not, KK rules as Lana! She is that GREAT! No matter what, She will always be remember as Smallville’s First Lady…period!

Goodluck to KK on her new show…we will continue to support you like we did on Chuck!

  7. Josh Schartz is screwed if Hitched pair against Chuck and GG.
which one should he tell his fans to watch?lol
it kinda explains why he did not make KK`s stay on chuck anylonger.
    Poor Chuck-Hannah fans,myself included.

  8. Awww. I wasn’t a fan of Lana but I liked KK on Chuck she looked so adorable. I’ll definitely be watching this.

  9. NoMoEmoSuperman on

i guess we have an ardent devote fan of kk here – understandable. she is a lovely young woman. as for her popularity – read what most fans of smallville have to say about lana’s return to the show in “bride” season 8. there are many more clois fans (i’m one of them) than clana fans – for good reason. i think the show’s producers got the message. but we are all entitled to our opinions and i hope kk success on her new show (that way she won’t show up on any more episodes of smallville – just kidding ;).

  10. Congratulations to Kristin Kreuk for her new show!!! I hope it’ll be picked up!!!

and for NoMoEmoSuperman -> for your info after Kristin/Lana left smallville the ratings sunk to 2.5 million average…they lost 1/3 of their viewers from S8..this only showed how massive fan base Kristin/Lana have. Smallville couldn’t even reach 3mil viewers nowadays.sad but true. :-(
anyway,, looking forward to watch this new show of you Kristin!!! you’re such an amazing actress!

  11. I think what NoMoEmoSuperman was trying to say is that there are more clois fans post on K-site than clna`s.ha..ha..ha
online fans are only very small percentages of general viewers.Only the ratings can shows wheter an ep is well-received or not.For example, thirst.wrath, and power were bashed like hell by some online fans, and look up the ratings for those episodes.Power end up being one of the higest rated episode, and the highest female demo on season8,and the re-run and Live+7 for power also very satisfying.

  12. While again, I don’t condone Lana/KK bashing… I have to laugh at the notion that her leaving is the sole reason the show “sunk to 2.5 million average.”

Losing Michael Rosenbaum, moving to Fridays, viewer fatigue from the show being 9 years old, and not being promoted had nothing to do with it at all, did they?

Keep in mind, episodes like “Bloodline” in Season 8 did rate higher than the episodes KK was a part of. I’m pretty sure a few more in that first half of the season also did better than KK’s arc. Which is not to say KK doesn’t have her following – I just don’t think KK’s departure is the sole reason for the show’s drop.

  13. NoMoEmoSuperman, again, don’t try to infuriate other people here.

I’ve been a part of Smallville fandom since before the show premiered, and even though yes there are people not into KK/Lana, I think most longtime fans were happy to see her back – AND it brought a lot of viewers back into the fold.

Even some who didn’t care for the character in the past have been known to say they miss her. So what you’re saying is a matter of opinion.

Every character is someone’s favorite. KK/Lana clearly still has a huge fan base.

I wasn’t the fondest of the storyline that brought Lana back, but for “Bride” specifically I don’t think there’s much if anything to complain about. Lana is and was an important part of the show’s history, and is a part of Clark’s past that will inform who he will become, like her or not.

  14. SV moved to friday??? if you’re really an avid fan of SV you’ll watch it whatever day it is aired…

Good for you Kristin Kreuk for having a new show on the most watch channel in US.

  15. capridragon on

Wow. this is fantastic news. First Ben-Hur (ABC)… then Chuck (NBC).. and then Fringe (Fox). If Hitched gets picked up, she’ll be on CBS and the show would gain me as a fan! Wooo-hoooo, way to go KK.. am wishing you every success!!

And to NoMoEmoSuperman -> a lot of us KK fans are also glad that she left Smallville and moved on to other projects. She may be annoying to you (who I doubt know her personally), but obviously she’s well-liked by the people that really matter in the industry!

  16. Lyla Lerrol on

Kristin Kreuk has a huge fanbase in Smallville, whether the haters like it or not…
Years from now when Smallville ends, who do you think the people will remember as Smallville’s first lady? mmm let me guess, Allison Mack? mmm NO!, Erica Durance…mmm definitely NOT!

Some people might not like kk/Lana, but she was an important part of the show…remember, the holy trinity of Smallville has always been Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk and Michael Rosenbaum…with the two gone, it did lost some viewers…but Smallville is still a good show…

Goodluck to Kristin on hew new show…
Some KK/Lana/Clana fans do not visit or post at the forum, but it does not mean they do not exist, theres gazillion of kk/lana/clana fans out there…K-site is Clois territory…LOL

  17. Lyla, again, please refrain from using the term “haters” or bashing other actresses here.

Same rules from the KryptonSite Forums apply here.

  18. Kristin deserves all great things after the way TPTB of smallville and online fans treated her when she was on the show.
PS3 even snubbed her during season 8 promo interview, they gave rosenbaum hella lots of nice paraises than compare to KK,the closest thing to that was Kelly or brian said that she`s an “interesting” actress, what the hell was that suppose to mean?would it kill them to say talented? and after she left, they released spoiler that say”when lis return,we`ll forget about lana like she never returned” that`s downright bashing right there,it came off as they didn`t appreciate her work, and don`t get me started with the backlash by certain shipper on the show, they tryto convinced chuck fans that she`s bad actress on ausiello blogs, and everywhere.
KK has been getting more recognition and appreciation on chuck than on the last few years of sv.With Zach Levi said thinhs like”she`s most adorable thing” or “she left super impression on us,we try to get her back” and Josh Schawtz put up tweet “guys, more kristin kreuk” tonight, and nbc who actually show off and promote her.

  19. I think the reason KK didn’t get a lot of talk from PS3 last year is they knew she was still coming back, so unlike Rosenbaum she wasn’t in the past.

I’m sure now if they were asked things about KK the talk would be much more positive.

  20. NoMoEmoSuperman on

craig, i’m not trying to infuriate anyone – i’m just stating (i thought rather mildly) my opinion which i readily acknowledge others do not share. btw, before i say another word, let me add that i appreciate your objectivity.

from what i gather, ms. kreuk is a wonderful person – the cast and people who have worked with think so. and no, i’ve never met her. i think (as i’ve posted before) that she is stunningly beautiful. i’ve just never been a fan of the character of lana on smallville.

my first image of superman is george reeves (yeah, i’m pretty old), then a jump to cr and then a jump to tw. at first i wasn’t too happy with the introduction of lois into the show (how dare they mess with the superman mythos!) but ed and the lois character as written and portrayed by ed won me over. tw and ed have great chemistry together. i do miss mr on the show and his replacement quite hasn’t done it for me yet. i also think that the whole zod arc is floundering right now but we’ll see what happens.

i just found it humorous that brandon routh and kk ended up on chuck this season – am surprised they haven’t had more tongue in cheek references to superman on chuck.

again, best of luck to ms. kreuk on her new show – i really mean it.

  21. Congrats KK,CBS is America`s #1 Network, and Josh is a great writer/creator.Will she move to LA and dealing with the hollywood for this?she seems like a shy person.
and yea,i have to agree with chuck, she was underuse and under-appreciated on smallville. There were interviews posted on KKW when PS3 talk about her and MR,he get about two sentences of good words and KK only a half a sentence, and the interviewer was asking for both, not only MR!tHEY also said nothing on comicon about Lana`s arc or KK,the way they talked about Lex.
The superpower thing was NOT her idea, she mentioned it on iO9 interview she said it was really unnecesary, and the writers forced her to do it anyway,KK couldn`t say anything because she was the one with the debts(of 5 epis) for the not otherwise, and people on forum and Triplet were all bitter about her, ugh!
Notice how on DVD feature for “power”,they gave evrybody credits but the one wgose charac was the front and centre of the story weas forgotten. If people can blame KK for the downturn of epis when she wasn`t even on it,so why can`t she get the credit of the succes(rating-wise) of ep when she was exist on it.Talk about double standard, huh!

  22. KK deserves all the lucks in the world.Wish her nothing but happiness!I do feel sorry that she got bad rep among online fans when she was on sv.Even alot of reviewers on chuck noticed that. Some of them wrote”so i noticed that kristin seems to be hated by many smallville fans, and i honestly donno why”
or like “I wasn`t really looking forward for her appearence, based on from what i`ve heard from smallville fans that she`s bad,but now i want more of her”
It`s ironic how the fanbase that suppost to support her,the fanbase of a show that she helped making popular and gain viewers are actually the ones who really mean towards her.I resent that. Now she seems to be loved by the chucksters.

  23. I love KK and I am happy that she got the role I will be watching the show, and in no way is she annoying, she’s a great actor and everyone including me enjoys here in Chuck and sometimes on Smallville.

  24. BrewsingBlue82 on

I didn’t have any problem with KK on Smallville. She added alot just like the other regulars each added their own touch to the show. However I disagree with any theory that her being gone has anything to do with lowering the shows ratings. During season 8 alone Smallville came to have to go against tough competition alone on Thursday nights with shows like The Office and Bones. But I think more than likely the ratings drop came from the move to Friday nights and poor pairing. Smallville/Supernatural isn’t exactly the best of pairings since they aren’t very much alike, but Smallville/America’s Next Top Model as a pairing, plus being on a Friday night doesn’t go well. On a Friday night, any core younger viewers likely won’t be home as it’s their weekend, and are likely out enjoying free time. But KK is a beautiful woman and pulls well enough weight as an actress. GL to her on the new Pilot.

  25. i stopped watching smallville cos of kk left the show. i love tom welling and kk/lana and clark romance on smallville, without them, the show’s not interesting anymore. Can’t stand the clark and lois thing – thats not smallville!
