UPDATE: It’s confirmed by THR: The Black Lightning pilot is moving to The CW! THR also notes that this is the sixth of six CW pilot orders, which means high-profile Charmed and Lost Boys projects may have to wait a while. Here’s the original story:
The bad news is it sounds like FOX passed on making a pilot for the series, which might not be too surprising considering the X-Men project as well as DC Comics properties Gotham and Lucifer.
The possibly good news is that according to Deadline, there are “discussions underway” for the project – coming from super-producer Greg Berlanti as well as Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil – to make a move to The CW. Riverdale did something similar, first starting in development at FOX.
Additionally, Deadline’s article has a logline that seems to be updated a little bit, so we’re sharing that too:
Written by the husband-and-wife duo of Akil and Brock Akil based on the DC character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden, Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
