Deadline caught up with super-producer Greg Berlanti an the INTV Conference in Jerusalem, Israel, and during their talk, it was revealed where in the timeline the new Batwoman pilot takes place.
Berlanti says that “the origin story that we set up predates the crossover; it’s a story prior to the crossover.”
Caroline Dries penned the Batwoman adaptation which stars Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, the cousin of Bruce Wayne in a world where Batman has skipped town. The pilot is currently shooting in Vancouver with exteriors in Chicago, helmed by director Marcos Siega.
“I have seen dailies, and they’re very exciting,” he said.
The cast of the potential series also includes Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane, Kate’s father; Elizabeth Anweis as Catherine Hamilton-Kane, her stepmother; Rachel Skarsten as Kate’s sister and villain Alice; Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore; Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox; and Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton. It is one of several CW pilots hoping to land on the schedule this year, a range that includes Katy Keene (not to be confused with Kate Kane), The Lost Boys, and Nancy Drew.
