Deadline is reporting that You’re the Worst alum Aya Cash and Justin Linville (What We Do in the Shadows) have been cast in FOX comedy pilot This Country.
Cash is set as earnest Type-A Cheryl, the editor of the local paper who moved to the small town of Flatch from Minnesota. She pines for her ex-boyfriend Father Joe (Seann William Scott) and hopes they can find their way back to one another. Linville will play Mickey, an old classmate of Kelly and Shrub’s who works at the local fireworks store. He and Shrub share a difference of opinion as to the state of their relationship.
They join a cast that includes
FOX recently committed to filming all six of the pilots it had ordered earlier this year. Aside from This Country, this network has female friendship comedy Pivoting, which stars Eliza Coupe, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Tommy Dewey; The Big Leap, a dance drama following a group of underdog dancers auditioning for a reality show that will put on a production of Swan Lake; procedural Blood Relative, starring Oscar winner Melissa Leo; The Cleaning Lady, about a Cambodian doctor failed by the American health care system who begins working for the mob; and an untitled drama centering on a substitute teacher who helps a few students put together a shot-for-shot remake of The Goonies.
