Deadline is reporting that FOX comedy pilot Pivoting will star Happy Endings alum Eliza Coupe.
From Liz Astrof (The King of Queens), Pivoting follows a group of female friends who are left reeling after the death of their childhood best friend. In desperate attempts to find happiness, they make a series of impulsive, ill-advised, and self-indulgent decisions that strengthen their bond.
Coupe will play offbeat Amy, who produces a local cooking show. Following the death of her close friend Colleen, she resolves to spend more time with her children, even though she knows nothing about being a mother.
In addition to her role on the cult ABC comedy, Coupe’s television credits include Future Man, Casual, and Rob Riggle’s Ski Academy.
Pivoting is part of a comedy pilot slate for FOX that includes mockumentary This Country, based on the acclaimed British series of the same name. The network already has a series order for animated comedies The Great North and Housebroken, as well as a series commitment for Call Me Kat, a multi-cam starring Mayim Bialik that’s also based on an acclaimed British series, this one being Miranda Hart’s Miranda.
Would you watch Pivoting if FOX ordered it? Do you think the show could be too heavy for a broadcast comedy? Who else would you like to see in the cast with Coupe?
