CBS has opted to cancel veteran comedy 2 Broke Girls after six seasons. The cancellation here had less to do with ratings, which were still solid despite the show having been moved a lot, and more to do with finances; 2 Broke Girls isn’t owned by CBS and where it’s getting up there in age, the network would have to start shouldering more of the costs without having the benefits of huge ratings or syndication money to offset said costs. Where CBS has made moves in recent seasons to own all of its content, similar to how they let go of Mike & Molly after six seasons, they decided it was time to cut the show loose.
From Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City) and Whitney Cummings (Whitney), 2 Broke Girls centered on Caroline (Beth Behrs) and Max (Kat Dennings), two 20-something waitresses who dream of one day opening a cupcake shop together.
In addition to Behrs and Dennings, 2 Broke Girls starred Garrett Morris (Saturday Night Live), Jonathan Kite (Raising Hope), Matthew Moy (Scrubs), and Jennifer Coolidge (Legally Blonde).
The series finale of 2 Broke Girls aired April 17th on CBS. The network will be revealing its 2017-18 schedule on Wednesday, May 17th; you can check out what KSiteTV thought they could do here.
