The Kenan Show Ordered to Series by NBC

NBC has given a series order to The Kenan Show, it was confirmed today.

From Jackie Clarke (Marry Me), The Kenan Show stars Saturday Night Live‘s Kenan Thompson as a newly widowed father attempting to do everything he can to give his kids a sense of normalcy amidst major change. When it all becomes too much, he enlists the help of his father-in-law. With the series ordered, Emmy nominee Thompson will likely scale back his role on the late-night comedy, if not leave entirely.

In addition to Thompson, the series, one of the first pilots NBC ordered in development season, stars Punam Patel and Andy Garcia.

The Kenan Show is one of several new series ordered by NBC, who releases their schedule on Sunday before their Monday upfront. Thus far, the network has ordered immigration comedy Sunnyside, legal drama Bluff City Law, friendship drama Council of Dads, and musical dramedy Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
