Hulu officially granted series orders to revenge thriller Reprisal and period drama The Great at its TCA presentation on Monday.
From Josh Corbin (StartUp), Reprisal follows a relentless femme fatale (Abigail Spencer) who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads.
In addition to Spencer, Reprisal stars the likes of Rodrigo Santoro (300), Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Madison Davenport (Noah), and Rhys Wakefield (The Purge).
From Oscar nominee Tony McNamara (The Favourite), The Great stars Elle Fanning as 18th century Russian ruler Catherine the Great and chronicles her rise to power and explosive relationship with husband Peter (Nicholas Hoult). The series is one of two active projects centering on Catherine the Great, the other being HBO’s upcoming limited series starring Helen Mirren.
In addition to Fanning and Hoult, The Great stars Phoebe Fox (Eye in the Sky), Adam Godley (Breaking Bad), Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody), Charity Wakefield (Wolf Hall), Douglas Hodge (Red Sparrow), and Sacha Dhawan (Last Tango in Halifax).
Reprisal and The Great join a scripted slate for Hulu that includes The Handmaid’s Tale, Harlots, Marvel’s Runaways, Future Man, Light as a Feather, and Into the Dark. 2019 will see the streaming platform debuting the likes of Ramy, Shrill, and The Act.
