Supernatural #7.17 Spoilers: “The Born-Again Identity”

I always appreciate a punny episode title, and it seems the March 23 episode of The CW’s Supernatural has a very fun pun for its title.

Here’s the official description with spoilers that was just released by the network. Yes, Castiel (Misha Collins) is FINALLY back!

MISHA COLLINS RETURNS! — Lucifer (guest star Mark Pellegrino) drives Sam (Jared Padalecki) to the breaking point and Sam ends up in a mental hospital.  Desperate to save his brother, Dean (Jensen Ackles) calls every hunter he knows for help.  One of the hunters gives him the name of a healer who turns out to have a very familiar face (guest star Misha Collins).  Robert Singer directed the episode written by Sera Gamble (#717).

Gotta say, I’m not all that surprised they pushed the episodes back. Disappointed maybe, but not surprised. The real question is why they’re showing scenes with Sam in the gurney and Dean finding Cas in previews for 7×16. Maybe just a 5-second-scene at the end, or are they previewing previews now?

    2. Agent K on Mar 1, 2012 1:42 pm

Twirls, I think it’s more an aggregated preview that mixes in scenes from all the last… what, five episodes we’ve got left? Sort of like a preview of coming attractions for the rest of the season since there’s been a brief hiatus in between the last aired episode and the final episodes of the season.

    3. Michelle on Mar 1, 2012 4:36 pm

My guess is they know that many fans are eagerly anticipating Castiel’s return, so they stuck that scene with him in the 7.16 promo in order to keep people excited and buzzing about it during the mini-hiatus.

    4. Ken L on Mar 3, 2012 7:12 am

We need Castiel back full-time. The show has been so boring without him.

    5. Wolf on Mar 5, 2012 3:23 pm

Couldn’t agree with you more Ken!

Hope the 3 ep arc is a lead in to a season 8 with Cass back for good or else there goes yet another TV show I shall no longer watch. I haven’t liked Supernatural since the end of season 5 (with maybe 6 or 7 exceptions). It’s lost something since then and I’ve stuck with it for too long to go without that angel any longer. The boys alone no longer “do it” for me.

I think that cas will return because clear back when the leviathan escaped they went in the water and escaped but no one knew what happened to cas for sure but I think that the body that they were in got destroyed and cas didn’t have a way to get back down to earth without a proper vessel, so he was trapped in heaven until he could find a way to restore the body.

that’s amazing !! things will be interesting with cas’s returning

    9. Tariq on Mar 9, 2012 11:36 am

Looking forward to this episode, enough with the Unicorns and Ballerina’s and whatever other stupid stuff Sarah is trying to cram into the show. She’s ruined this season!
Sam’s wall breaking down and some Leviathan action is what this season needs now!!

Why is it that people are only buzzing about Cas’s return ? Sammy had his wall , the only thing keeping him from losing his sanity completely , broken and most of us would’ve expected him to be a vegetable by now , but no , instead he’s held it together for so long and now he’s finally going to break . Oh my God , I cannot describe how much my heart bleeds for him . He’s gone through so much and finally he’s broken down , unable to go on . So I wonder , why is it that people are only talking about Cas’s return ?! Sammy ‘s the one who got his wall broken down by said person !
