The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens has been cast in the lead role in Legion, FX’s new series tied to the X-Men universe.
Here’s how THR describes his character:
Stevens will play David, a haunted man trying to find his way back to sanity; he’s getting tired and is about to give up when he meets the girl of his dreams.
In the comic books David aka “Legion” is David Haller, the son of Professor Charles Xavier. It remains to be seen how much of that story will be reflected in the TV series.
Interesting trivia: Dan Stevens once played an important voice to some superhumans as the voice of TIM on The CW’s Tomorrow People.
Stevens isn’t the only casting announcement to be made today, though!
THR also announced that Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) will play Lenny, who they describe as “David’s friend who, despite a life of drugs and alcohol abuse, knows that any day now her life is going to turn around — which gives Lenny the likeable energy of the impossible optimist despite her rough demeanor.”
Jean Smart will also be in the show, playing Melanie, “a nurturing, demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods.”
