A new episode of Nikita titled “Crossbow” airs tonight on The CW, and a bonus 23rd episode, the second season finale of the show, airs in a week, on May 18.

To get the word out about tonight’s show and the season finale, Maggie Q met with members of the press on Wednesday morning. Want the scoop from the “Nikita” herself? You’re in luck, and you’ve found the right article. Maggie describes tonight’s episode as “definitely the beginning of the end.”

“There’s a scene that we did where she’s saying to the five of them that she’s just done. She doesn’t want to run anymore. It’s not that Nikita hasn’t been like this before, but she really is done. She’s not backing down this time. She’s pissed, and she really, really, really doesn’t want to run. She can continue to fight, but to be running for her life, from Percy and this threat forever, it’s not sustainable. And it will hurt everyone she loves,” Maggie teases. She also reveals that Nikita will end up kissing someone in the episode… and that person will not be Michael. “It’s pretty fun. It’s something that there’s been an undertone about it from since Day One, but I don’t think anybody’s going to expect it. When I read it, I was like ‘Oh!'” she says. Could this “someone” be a nerd? “He may be smart… maybe…” she laughs.

As for what’s next, Maggie tells us Episode 23, the season finale, is “huge.” “I don’t know how they’re going to make it an hour. It needs to be 90 minutes! I wish,” she enthuses. She reveals that the finale will have “not so much of a cliffhanger” but it definitely sets things up for Season 3 while still wrapping current storylines. “Some of the Warner Bros. executives did call me and say they felt the journey coming full circle, and it felt good. You actually felt good in the end. Although there are tons of shocks before you feel good,” she teases.

“It’ll be a different show,” Maggie says of a potential Season 3. “There will also be room for some more standalone episodes with different threads coming in and out, which I really like. That’s fun, too. I think the most important thing is who will make it in this family. Let’s put it this way: Not everyone’s going to make it out of Season 2. We’re not going to start Season 3 with every character we started with.”

Will we care about the casualties. What if it’s Guard #2 who will be dying? “Second guard from the left, I guarantee you, is not coming back,” she jokes before answering the question seriously. “Yes, you will care. I definitely cared. I was very torn about it, actually. It’s a very important element to the show. It’s one of those things… you have to build and destroy, build and destroy. You’ve got to do it. But, yes you will care. I cared very much,” she says.

Before the season is over, we will be seeing Melinda Clarke’s Amanda again, though Maggie says she didn’t want to see her again until season 3. “I’ll tell you why. I love Melinda. I think Melinda is the genius bomb dizzy. Love her. But the way that we got rid of Ari and Amanda, with them as these two fallen powerhouses in that dank hotel, completely off the map… they lost everything… it was so perfect, and I didn’t want to see her again until Season 3, when it would be like ‘Amanda’s back! Ahhh!'” she says, acknowledging that Amanda probably will never again be in the same position she had been in before. “I would say Amanda running Division with Percy – I mean, that’s glory days, big time. That’s cush. She got to do whatever she anated. She had no bosses. She was her own entity, weirdo, perfect. So, yeah. I wanted to see her in the dank hotel room, and then Season 3, like ‘oh God. Here she comes.’ But we are going to see her before the season ends, but not in the capacity that you think. I still kind of got my wish, a little bit. But there is one other thing she is going to do to set herself up for the third season,” Maggie teases.

One character we won’t be seeing by the end of Season 2, sadly, is Devon Sawa’s Owen. “We had plans to bring him back at the end of the season, and the story was going that way, but then it had to go another way and some decisions had to be made,” Maggie reveals. “It was one of those things where you either bring him back, and then you can’t do all the other stuff you want to do, or you wait. You make it sweeter. I think that’s what we’re going to do. There is no way, in Season 3, that Nikita’s not going to seek Owen out. She’s going to have to, because some big changes are going to be made at the end of Season 2. She’s going to need all the help she can get,” Maggie says, not ready for the show to be over just yet. “It’s not that I think Nikita should go for five seasons, but I definitely think it should go for three, at least. I think in three seasons, we could at least wrap these people up,” she says. “The path is set for where she’s going to go in the third season, but once she gets there in the third season, anything could happen.”

Before the third season can happen, though, we’ll have a big finale to look forward to. “There is so much cool action, and some really big stunts. Things that I always wanted in, we saved for the finale. Not everyone’s going to make it. There’s going to be some epic ‘bye-bye’ scenes. But mainly, there is a full circle sort of thing that happened for Nikita and some of the other characters, which to me, as a person’s journey, I find very beautiful. It felt good to see this all happen this way,” she says.

  1. Oh my! I hope Birkoff, Sean and Ryan make it out of season 2.. I would love to see them on season 3. I guess, Alex and Michael are safe for the spots on Nikki’s team.. Come to think of it, they’ll need Birkoff. So I’m crossing fingers on this one. And please I love Ryan. I love Sean for Alex too. I miss Owen already.

  2. I love nikita so much but without alex in the picture i think itd ruin it a little for me… and micheal too. birkoff sean and ryan definetly make the whole picture come together. I guess what I’m hoping for is a third season really really bad!!
