The hit CBS series Supergirl was featured last weekend at the 2016 PaleyFest in Hollywood, California; one of several shows to be honored in the annual festival originated by the Paley Center for Media.

One of the highlights of the show’s first season is that they have been able to honor their Super-legacy by bringing in some favorites from Krypton media’s past. Dean Cain (Lois & Clark’s Superman) and Helen Slater (Supergirl from the 1984 feature film) have appeared on the series, as has Laura Vandervoort, who played Kara/Supergirl on the CW series Smallville.

On the PaleyFest carpet, we spoke with today’s Supergirl – actress Melissa Benoist – about what it’s been like to have Supergirl veterans Slater and Vandervoort on the show.

Supergirl Benoist“Working with Helen Slater and Laura Vandervoort was so important,” Melissa told KSiteTV. “I think it’s really important to honor the past, and both of them made such incredible Supergirls, and it’s also [that] not many people have played this role, and not many people really have been Kryptonians in the history of people bringing this to life. So that felt really special, and they’re both such wonderful, strong, inspiring women,” she continued.

And, might we see the three of them in a scene together in Season 1, as has been rumored?

“I don’t know; I think there was a time that we were all there at once, in the same episode… but I can’t remember,” she said, possibly playing coy to keep the surprise.

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8PM on CBS. A new episode airs on March 21, and then next week, Supergirl crosses over with The Flash! You can watch video of our interview with Melissa Benoist below.
