Thursday was a good day for Sony/ABC Studios co-productions, as ABC has given multi-cam Dr. Ken a second season and ordered drama Notorious and comedy Imaginary Mary to series.

Starring Ken Jeong (Community) as a physician who works at a badly-run HMO, Dr. Ken has been a solid lead-out for Last Man Standing this season and helps keep the latter from having to air with yet another new show next season. Last Man had aired with six different shows in the past five seasons (Man Up, Cougar TownMalibu Country, The Neighbors, Cristela, and Dr. Ken), so Ken working allows ABC to keep Fridays steady while tinkering with other nights. A Last Man Standing renewal has yet to be formally announced, though ABC renewing Dr. Ken and dispatching their only multi-cam in development (The Fluffy Shop, which starred Gabriel Iglesias) points to the Tim Allen vehicle getting another season.

From Allie Hagan and Josh Berman comes Notorious, which is based on the lives and careers of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker, both of whom are executive producers. The show follows how powerful news producer Julia George and the nation’s top defense attorney Jake Gregorian attempt to control the media and the criminal justice system, in addition to how their relationship evolves both behind closed doors and in front of the camera.

The series stars Piper Perabo (Covert Affairs), Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me), Aimee Teegarden (Star-Crossed), J. August Richards (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce), and Ryan Guzman (Pretty Little Liars).

Starring Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg), Imaginary Mary centers on career woman Alice, someone who seemingly has everything together – that is, until she meets the love of her life. What should be a happy time in her life, the culmination of years of dating and trying to find the one, turns south when her childhood imaginary friend reappears to help guide her through this transitional phase in her life. But will her imaginary friend’s presence ultimately be good for Mary? Or will it cause her to overthink the relationship that she’s been waiting for her entire life?

In addition to Elfman, Imaginary Mary, from The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg, stars Stephen Schneider (Broad City), Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live), Nicholas Coombe (Pants on Fire), Matreya Scarrwener (Strange Empire), and Erica Tremblay (Bye Bye Man).
