HBO has set a Monday, May 6th premiere date for upcoming five-part miniseries Chernobyl.
From Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II), Chernobyl dramatizes the story of the infamous 1986 nuclear accident, considered one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history. The series will follow the men and women whose sacrifices helped save Europe and the culture of disinformation that made their efforts that much more difficult.
The series stars Jared Harris (The Terror), Stellan Skarsgård (Good Will Hunting), Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves), Paul Ritter (Quantum of Solace), Jessie Buckley (Beast), Adrian Rawlins (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2), and Con O’Neill (Uncle).
Chernobyl is part of a new HBO strategy that will feature regular programming on Mondays starting in the spring. Also set to air on Mondays are Helen Mirren limited series Catherine the Great, the final season of The Deuce, and His Dark Materials, a series adaptation of the Philip Pullman novel series.
