CBS Announces 2020-21 Schedule: SWAT Held for Midseason

Continuing the topsy turvy upfronts period broadcast is in the midst of, CBS became the third network to reveal its plans for the 2020-21 schedule on Tuesday. While The CW and FOX fielded schedules showing the impact of coronavirus on television production, both eyeing a January start to their regular seasons, CBS is going about business as usual by only releasing a normal fall schedule. Any contingency plans the network has in case it’s unsafe to begin production in time for premiere week in September or accounting for a possible fall coronavirus surge are being kept close to the vest for now.

The schedule as a whole is almost identical to what it looked like in the closing months of the 2019-20 season. The only changes are Queen Latifah drama The Equalizer taking the place of cancelled God Friended Me, The Amazing Race getting the post-Survivor treatment and bumping SEAL Team to 10:00, a slightly reshuffled Thursday where The Unicorn moves to 9:30 in favor of Chuck Lorre comedy B Positive, and Shemar Moore drama SWAT finding itself pushed to midseason.

Also midseason is Silence of the Lambs sequel Clarice and Undercover Boss. The network still has most of its pilots in contention for orders, but how much makes it to series depends on if/when production can begin and how much of the season will be open for new scripted content.
